State Representative Buddy Lovell of Marked Tree is serving his third term representing District 56, which is composed of Poinsett County.
For the 88th General Assembly, Rep. Lovell serves on the Joint Budget Committee, where he chairs the Claims Committee. In addition, he serves on the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee, where he is vice chair of the Labor and Environment Subcommittee. Rep. Lovell is also on the House Insurance and Commerce Committee, and the House and Joint Advanced Communication and Technology Committees.
For the 87th General Assembly, Rep. Lovell served on the House Revenue and Taxation Committee and the House Insurance and Commerce Committee. He was a member of Joint Performance Review and the Joint Budget Committee. During his first term, Rep. Lovell served on the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee; the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, where he was vice chair of the House Complaints and Remediation Subcommittee; and the Legislative Joint Auditing Boards and Commissions Subcommittee.
Rep. Lovell graduated from Marked Tree High School and attended college at Arkansas State University and Arkansas Tech University. Now retired, he served on the city council, school board, and is a Vietnam veteran. Rep. Lovell is a past president and vice president of Rotary Club. He and his wife, Lynn, are Methodist.
