Rep. Johnnie Roebuck of Arkadelphia is serving her third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. She represents District 20, which includes parts of Clark and Nevada counties.
For the 88th General Assembly, Rep. Roebuck serves on the Arkansas Legislative Council, where she chairs the Higher Education Subcommittee. She also serves as vice-chair of the House Education Committee. In addition, Rep. Roebuck serves on the Joint Committee for Public Retirement and Social Security Programs, and the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee. She was also chosen House Majority Leader. During the 87th General Assembly, Rep. Roebuck was a member of the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs Committee. She also served on the Arkansas Legislative Council and the Joint Committee on Public Retirement and Social Security
Rep. Roebuck graduated from high school in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University; a master's degree from Henderson State University, and education specialist and doctoral degrees from the University of Arkansas. Rep. Roebuck is a retired educator. While professor at Henderson State University, she received the 2006 Faculty Excellence Award for Outstanding Teaching. Prior to joining the Henderson State faculty in 1990, she was a public school administrator and teacher.
Rep. Roebuck has served in leadership roles in many organizations, includingPhi Delta Kappa, the Arkansas Education Association and the Arkansas Association of Professors of Educational Administration. She is the former chairman of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts Board of Trustees. Rep. Roebuck has also served in the Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized as outstanding legislator by the Counselors Association, the Firefighters Association, the Police Benevolent Association, and the Sierra Club. She has also served on the executive board of the NCSL Women's Legislative Network.
In her spare time, Rep. Roebuck enjoys collecting antiques and writing. She and her husband, Dr. Tommy Roebuck, are Presbyterian. They have four grown children.
