State Representative Jim Nickels of North Little Rock is serving his third term representing District 41, a portion of Pulaski County, in the Arkansas General Assembly.
During the 89th General Assembly, Rep. Nickels serves on the Judicary and as well as the State Agencies and Governmental Affairs. Rep. Nickels is also part of the Joint Budget Committee.
During the 88th General Assembly, Rep. Nickels has served on the House Committee for State Agencies and Governmental Affairs, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Constitutional Issues. He also served on the House Judiciary Committee; the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee, and the Joint Committee on Public Retirement and Social Security Programs. For the 87th General Assembly, Rep. Nickels was a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee, were he was vice chairman of the Parks and Tourism Subcommittee.
Mr. Nickels is an educator at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and an attorney. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Henderson State University and a law degree from the University of Arkansas. He previously served on the Little Rock Workforce Investment Board and the Sherwood Personnel Commission.
He is a Vietnam-era veteran and a member of the United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Kathy, have a son and a daughter.
