Rep. Mary P. Hickerson of Texarkana is serving her first term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. She represents District 1, which includes part of Miller County. For the 88th General Assembly, she serves on the House Committee for Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs, where she chairs the Subcommittee for Children and Youth. Rep. Hickerson also serves on the House Public Transportation Committee; the House Rules Committee; and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.
Rep. Hickerson graduated from Arkansas High School in Texarkana, and Watkins Business Institute. She attended the University of Tennessee in Nashville. Before serving in the House, Rep. Hickerson served ten years on the Arkansas State Highway Commission. She has also been a member of the Arkansas Good Roads and Transportation Council. In addition, Rep. Hickerson has been a board member for Christus St. Michael Health Systems and Texarkana Resources for the Disabled.
In her free time, Rep. Hickerson enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. She and her husband, Randy, attend the Baptist Church. They have one grown son.
