Sheilla E. Lampkin

Rep. Sheilla Lampkin of Monticello is serving her third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. She represents District 9, which includes parts of Drew and Ashley counties.

During the 90th General Assembly, Rep. Lampkin serves as Vice Chairperson and member on the Education Committee, Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development, Arkansas Legislative Council, Joint Committee on Advanced Communications and Information Technology.

For the 89th General Assembly, Rep. Lamkin served on the House Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee; the House Education Committee, and the Joint Committee on Advanced Communications and Information Technology.

For the 88th General Assembly, Rep. Lamkin has served on the House and Joint Committees for Advanced Communications and Information Technology, where she was vice chair. She also served on the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee; the House Committee for City, County and Local Affairs, and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.

A native of Desha County, Rep. Lampkin graduated salutatorian of Dumas High School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (then Arkansas A&M), and she earned a master's degree from the University of Arkansas. Now retired, Rep. Lampkin has served as chair of the Arkansas History Commission. She has also been part of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas;  the Lions club;  Delta Byways;  the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association;  the Drew County Museum Commission (chair), and the Drew County Historical Society. She was an original board member for Cornerstone Leadership Development Institute. She has been recognized as Monticello Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year, Teacher of the Year, and Hospital Auxilian of the Year.

Rep. Lampkin enjoys being an advocate for historic preservation in the state. She is also interested in promoting economic development throughout her district and Arkansas, and devotes much of her free time to both. She and her husband, Damon, are Baptist.
