Rep. Matthew Shepherd of El Dorado is serving his fourth term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents District 6, which includes part of Union County.

Rep. Shepherd is serving his second term as chair of the House Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the House Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee, Small Business and Economic Development Permanent Subcommittee,  Joint Budget Committee, and Joint Committee on Energy.

For the 89th General Assembly, he served as chair of the House committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development.

A native of El Dorado, Rep. Shepherd graduated from El Dorado High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ouachita Baptist University and his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law. A practicing attorney, he is a member of the El Dorado Rotary Club, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Union County Bar Association, and the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce.

 

Rep. Shepherd and his wife, Alie, have three young children and reside in El Dorado.
