Rep. John W. Walker of Little Rock is serving his third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents District 34, which includes portions of Pulaski County.
For the 90th General Assembly, he serves on the committee on Education, the committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs, the Joint Performance Review Committee, the Joint Budget Committee, the Joint Committee on Public Retirement and Social Security Programs, and the Joint Committee on Constitutional Amendments.
For the 89th General Assembly, he served on the Judiciary Committee and the committee on State Agencies And Governmental Affairs. He also served on the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee where he was Co-Vice Chairperson.
For the 88th General Assembly, he served on the Judiciary Committee, where he was co-chair of the Courts and Civil Law Subcommittee. He also served on the Joint Performance Review Committee and the committee on Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs.
Rep. Walker is an attorney. He owns John W. Walker, P.A., a general practice operation. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, a master's degree in education from New York University, and a law degree from Yale University.
He is involved with many organizations, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the National Bar Association, and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. He is a recipient of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association Warhorse Award, and a National Bar Association Achievement Award. A native of Hope, Arkansas, he has five grown children.
