Rep. Robert Moore Elected Speaker-Designate
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (March 4, 2010) – The Arkansas House of Representatives Thursday elected Rep. Robert Moore (D-Arkansas City) to serve as Speaker-Designate of the 87th General Assembly. Speaker-Designate Moore represents District 12, and he is serving his second term in the House of Representatives. "As I affirmed to my colleagues and to the people of Arkansas, I will serve honorably, fairly and to the very best of my ability," Moore said. "I intend on ensuring that the House has a diversity in leadership with regard to committee chairs and other leadership positions," he said.
Speaker-Designate Moore chairs the House Rules Committee. He is also a member of the Joint Budget Committee (JBC); JBC-Claims Subcommittee; JBC-Special Language Subcommittee; Arkansas State Game and Fish Commission Oversight Committee; House Revenue and Taxation Committee; Income Taxes-Personal and Corporate Subcommittee; Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee; Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Subcommittee, and he is a non-voting member of the House Education Committee.
Speaker Designate Moore will be confirmed as Speaker of the House at the convening of the next regular session, which will be the 88th General Assembly, beginning January 2011.
