Rep. John T. Vines of Hot Springs is serving his third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents District 25, which includes portions of Garland County.
For the 90th General Assembly, he serves on the Judiciary Committee, the committee on Insurance and Commerce, the Joint Budget Committee, and the Rural Fire Departments Study Committee. He also serves as chair for the House Rules committee.
For the 89th General Assembly, he served on the Judiciary Committee as Vice Chairperson. He also served on the committee on Insurance And Commerce committee, and the Joint Budget Committee.
For the 88th General Assembly, he served on the committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs, and the committee on Rules.
Rep. Vines is a graduate of Newport High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Arkansas, and he holds a law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
He has been involved with several civic organizations. He is a member of the Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, where he has served as chairperson, and the Hot Springs Boys and Girls Club. He was recently named to the Arkansas Business "40 under 40" list of influential state business and political leaders. He and his wife, Libby, have two children.
