Election Day may still seem a long way off, but now is the time for Arkansans to make sure they are prepared for the November General Election.

On Tuesday, November 3, voters will choose who represents them at the local, state, and federal levels. Depending on where you live, your ballot may also include local races and issues.

Voting is one of the most direct ways citizens participate in our government, yet many eligible Arkansans do not cast a ballot. In the 2024 General Election, 1,187,243 of Arkansas’s 1,828,133 registered voters participated—a turnout of 64.94%. Turnout is typically lower in non-presidential election years.

At the Arkansas House, we have seen just how much a single vote can matter. Over the years, several House races have been decided by fewer than 50 votes. In fact, we have even had a race decided by just one vote. Elections like these are powerful reminders that the outcome can come down to only a handful of neighbors who chose to cast their ballots.

The first important deadline is October 5, the deadline to apply to register to vote for the General Election.

Early voting begins October 19 and is available from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Early voting ends at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 2.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

If a county or municipal race requires a runoff, the General Runoff Election will be held December 1. The registration deadline for that election is November 2.

We encourage every Arkansan to check their voter registration status, make a plan to vote, and know where to cast their ballot. Voter information is available at the Arkansas Secretary of State’s website.
