Biography

Rep. Gary Deffenbaugh of Van Buren is serving his sixth term in the Arkansas House of Representatives.  He represents District 79, which includes part of Crawford County.

For the 93rd General Assembly, Rep. Deffenbaugh serves as vice-chairperson for the Joint Committee on Public Retirement and Social Security Programs. He also serves on the Arkansas Legislative Council, the House Education Committee, and the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Rep. Deffenbaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Ouachita Baptist University. He is a retired teacher and coach, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and traveling. He and his wife, Carolyn, are Southern Baptist. They have two grown children.
